GROHE 30153000 Duo Kitchen Mixer and Single-Boiler, Kettle now redundant!!!!

Having been recommended this tap – and not wanting trio spend £1100 on it from other suppliers – this looked like a great plan. Now it has been fitted – very pleased w it. All the family approved and we have dumped the kettles and gained work top space too.

Fine piece of engineering and works exactly as expected. This was my choice based on the fact that my wife wanted a quooker. This was about half the price of the quooker and offered the option of all three water supplies in one tap (hot, cold, boiling). The installation looks a bit daunting but didn’t take too long once i had the required adaptors for the flexi hoses, which are 12 mm not 15mm. We didn’t realise how much boiling water we used ’til we didn’t have to wait for the kettle. But the best thing is the tap itself. This is an impressive bit of engineering and very slick in use. It’s a big tap (there are 5 flexi hoses connected to the underside of the base) and very solid. We have it on a quartz work surface. I wouldn’t recommend it fastening it on a stainless steel sink without some significant strengthening to hold it firmly. I think this tap is still over-priced, despite the half-price promotion, but if you have to get a boiling tap, i would thoroughly recommend this one.

This is a good product, attractively designed and solidly made. Mind you, for the price, it should be. The rotating tap outlet seems to have a fair bit of play where it joins the base of the assembly which incorporates the tap handles, but there’s no water leaking so i assume that’s the way it’s designed. Water pressure through the tap has never been great, and during the two years since ours was installed the pressure has gradually become worse. We called out a plumber last summer who couldn’t find a fault and recommended getting the water authority to look at our domestic mains pressure. We did, and the mains pressure was fine. By last week the flow from hot and cold was severely restricted and there was no boiling water outflow at all. Called plumber again, for second £40 fee, and this time it was discovered that the filter in the spout had become blocked. The filter gauze is very fine so it doesn’t take a lot to block it. So, do be aware that there is a fine filter in the spout itself – to which you can easily gain access by unscrewing the end of the spout with a fair sized adjustable spanner. Take some care not to lose the filter or washer. I’m sure we can’t be the only users to experience this problem.

This is a very good product.

Instructions are easy to follow needs 3/8. Instructions are easy to followneeds 3/8 inch connectors to hot and cold water feeds. I picked them up in screwfix.

Unpacking: at first it looks a bit daunting when you unpack it all, but it is not difficult to fit. The kit includes the taps, the boiler, a pressure vessel, fittings and pipes, water filter and meter. Space: it takes up a lot of space under the sink. I decided to use the dead space under the kitchen unit (behind the plinth), especially as i have a waste disposal unit under the sink and the usual waste pipes from sink and dishwasher. This is easily achieved by cutting out a section of the cupboard bottom, but care is needed as cupboards have leg supports a few inches in from the corners. I put the boiler unit centre back and the pressure device right back, the water filter left side. There is still room in the (600mm wide) cupboard at the front for sink related items, dishwasher tablets etc. Fitting: there are two or three compression fitting items, two spanners needed for the pressure vessel fitting. Most of the others just need a small spanner with a light touch, as they use gaskets.
